Patrik und Theavy Bun-Roux – brain, heart and soul of the Safe House in Battambang.
Swiss national Patrik Roux founded the NGO AVEC together with his Cambodian wife Theavy Bun. On the compound as well as on excursions, there are thousands of kids calling Patrik “Papa”, which means Daddy. Before coming to Cambodia, Patrik worked as an expert for the professional integration of people with multiple handicaps. It was this job that made Patrik realize his vocation to help people in need.
His wife, Theavy Bun, the soul of the Safe House, also manages it. She has extraordinary organizational skills and manages to keep everything under control. Theavy covers multiple positions: she is the manager of a small company, mother, teacher, nurse, poultry farmer, diplomat when it comes to dealing with local authorities, mediator for difficult family situations…. Theavy even finds a solution when actually there is no solution and she is a grandmaster of improvisation and delegation.
Together they manage to solve even the most difficult situations. They form a well-balanced team which is highly appreciated by everybody.
