Greeting Cards – Anna’s Project

In 2017 our daughter Anna had to do a social project for her school. She decided that she wanted to go to the Safe House in Battambang where she read the book “The little prince” by Antoine de Saint Exupéry with the teenagers in the Safe House. In her report on the week she describes her experience as follows:

“When I first arrived in the Safe House many hugged me and smiled at me even though they had never seen me before. When I said:” Hi, I’m Anna, what’s your name” it dawned on me that the communication was going to be a little challenging and they all had names I cannot pronnounce. In the beginning hardly anybody understood a word without the Khmer translation, not even their teacher and I even had be afraid that the book might have been too simple…I found the initial language barrier extremely frustrating (…) but during the course of the week communication improved significantly and eventually we hardly needed the Khmer translation any more!!”

But Anna’s project comprised another part: We took the handmade flowers of one the Safe House’s employee to a nearby temple and Anna took pictures of them. These pictures were made into greeting cards, bundled to packs of six pieces and decorated with a red fortune bracelets – which was also made by the employees of the Safe House. We are now selling these cards for Fr. 15 plus shipping costs with the proceeds going to the Safe House. Please order them by sending a mail to hello@wecare-association.com.

THANK YOU!
